Top quality digital, analog modeled AND dynamic EQ for $45. I bought it for $65 and it does 90+ percent what Pro-Q3 does and it has a mixed phase mode thats great on drums that Pro Q3 doesnt have. There are a bunch great all purpose EQ's that cost less and are comparable. Much faster and easier.įab Filter ProQ3 is not a must have IMO. If you have to resort to that level of tweaking for a single drum track I would just reinforce it with samples. I'm set for amps between S-gear and my HX stomp. I have tested a couple Neural DSP amps and they are not for me - but I'm not a metal guy. If you have auto-align you don't need Waves in-phase. It bass-ically does the same thing as parallax. It looks cool but my mix template is already setup for 2 bands of bass guitar: one with a with a LPF and the other HPF and amp simulation. You dont always need an automated de-resonance/de-harsher but man do they come in handy when you do. Soothe is not a necessity because DSEQ does the same thing (and more) for half the price. Before drum leveler i would HAVE to use samples to even out the kick and snare hits. IME they typically have very poor dynamic control and compressors are NOT going to get the job done. In the case of drum leveler its ESPECIALLY a must own if you are working with drums played by a typical weekend warrior drummer. Its not difficult to phase align drums but it is TOO time consuming doing it manually. For acoustic drum mixing I would agree that Auto-align and drum leveler are must owns.Īuto align mainly for the speed of the workflow.
